Life changing business idea

Susannah Woods wanted a complete change of lifestyle and the opportunity to start her own business where she could put her skills to good use

Susannah decided to make a lifestyle change in her early fifties when her original career as a midwife was getting too stressful for her. Passionate about cooking she had the idea of opening a high quality Country Guest House.

Purchasing run down Neuadd Lwyd, which started life as a fine grey-stoned early Victorian Rectory, she has had it skillfully restored and tastefully refurbished into an elegant and stylish Country House.

She then took an intensive training course at the Ballymaloe Cookery School, County Cork, Ireland, which is one of Europe’s foremost cookery schools.

She has always been passionate about quality food preparation, and now uses the finest and freshest of locally sourced meats, seafood, eggs, vegetables, aromatic herbs as first choice in her seasonally changing menus at her establishment.

Susannah asked PRIME Cymru for help in setting up her new venture after not knowing where to turn for help and hearing from one of PRIME Cymru’s advisors on Radio Wales.  Working with her advisor, and with his encouragement, Susannah managed to achieve 5 star status from the outset of opening Neuadd Lwyd.
