Representatives from PRIME Cymru, Wales’s charity dedicated to supporting people aged 50+ to secure work, attended The King’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on 7th May 2025.
Development Officer Tom Hughes-Lewis and Trustees Sarah Finnegan-Dehn, Brian Birtles, Ross O’Keefe, and Eleanor Marks, along with their plus ones, were invited to attend this prestigious event, which celebrates the contributions of various organisations across the country.
During the event, the PRIME Cymru delegates had the unique opportunity to stand on the palace steps for the royal procession. Following the procession, they were invited to meet His Majesty The King, where they had the chance to talk to him about the charity, which he founded in 2001.
His Majesty formed PRIME Cymru nearly 25 years ago, due to his concern for the 50+ age group in Wales. Since then, our team has worked tirelessly to support mature individuals move closer to the world of work. We have had the pleasure of meeting King Charles many times over the years and it is an honour to be invited to celebrate our work.
PRIME Cymru’s commitment to empowering older individuals aligns with the values celebrated at the garden party, where organisations contributing positively to society are acknowledged.
The charity offers free support to help people secure a job, set up a new business or upskill through volunteering and training. Often, our clients have had a knock to their confidence due to a long stretch of time out of work or facing redundancy. Our team work with them on a 1:1 basis to overcome any barriers. For example, some of the support given includes CV improvements, interview preparation, job hunting, business planning, looking for grants and much more.
