Message of inspiration from older worker 

Aged 67 years old, Gerry Lyons wanted to supplement his income during retirement. 

Keen to get back into security work, PRIME Cymru supported Gerry to achieve his goal. 

Development Officer Jeff Jones worked with Gerry to optimise his CV and look for opportunities. 

Previously Gerry had worked as security for railway staff, particularly during busy times such as Wales international rugby games. Jeff worked with Gerry to highlight the skills he had gained during this time. 

This did the trick as Gerry has now secured work doing crowd control with JAR Site Solutions Ltd. 

Grateful for the support he received from Jeff, Gerry said: “Jeff and the team at PRIME Cymru really did me proud. Their support was so helpful.” 

Eager to encourage other people who may be seeking new employment later on in life, Gerry added:

“I’m 67 years old and I’ve never felt better. Never stop learning about yourself and learning about life.”
