Jacqueline Cooling is a lively 60 year old who moved to Carmarthenshire with her husband and needed to find a job.

Before she moved to the area, she says she knew she would have to work to earn enough for them to buy the home in which they now live.

 An ex civil service manager she didn’t want to return to that type of work and says that realistically she felt there were not many opportunities out there for people of her age in that field.

Having been good at housework (she says she is very houseproud so knew what standard she expected) she decided to set up a cleaning service.

Jackie says “I read about the support PRIME Cymru had given to a mature person setting up a new business so contacted them. I needed someone, a mentor to bounce off my ideas for the business and especially a possible source to recruit mature people like me.”

Jackie shadowed a man with a small cleaning business just to check that it was what she wanted to do and decided it was. Her daughter came up with the name Maid Perfect.  She says she tries to be perfect but wants her clients to tell her when she is not.

Jackie currently has one mature person working with her recruited with the help of PRIME Cymru but plans to take on more staff as the business grows.
