HRH The Prince of Wales Celebrates 20 Years of PRIME Cymru

HRH The Prince of Wales has sent a congratulatory video message to the Welsh charity he founded in 2001.

PRIME Cymru was set up in response to the many letters HRH was receiving from the over 50s in Wales, who were facing great difficulty finding work due to their age.

20 years on, PRIME Cymru has engaged with more than 100,000 older people throughout Wales who have been facing long term unemployment and economic inactivity. Without this support, they may have been unable to provide for themselves and their families and facing older age poverty in retirement.

With a team of dedicated Development Officers and hundreds of volunteer mentors, PRIME Cymru offer bespoke, one-to-one support for mature individuals to find employment, set up a business or secure volunteering and training positions.

HRH said: “It is a source of real pride to think that the needs which were expressed in those letters from people seeking assistance have been met though the activities of PRIME Cymru, and that so many people have, as a result, been able to escape unemployment and turn their dreams into reality.

“Looking back that at all that has been achieved over the years, I want to say a heartfelt diolch yn fawr to all who have made the work of PRIME Cymru such a success. I do hope you can all feel a great sense of satisfaction at the difference you have made, not just to individuals but the economy of Wales as a whole.

“As you embark on your next 20 years, I can only wish everyone associated with PRIME Cymru every possible success. Llongyfarchiadau i chi i gyd, a pbhenblwydd hapus iawn!”

Throughout the pandemic, PRIME Cymru has adapted to embrace digital technologies to maintain their vital services.
