PRIME Cymru Volunteer Mentor, Julie Grabham, has launched a worthwhile new initiative, encouraging employers to give time off for breast screening appointments.
Julie received a breast cancer diagnosis following a routine screening in 2022. As an experienced HR consultant, she knew that there is no UK legislation in place allowing employees to take time off for breast screenings and as a result many people miss these vital appointments.
Knowing first hand the importance of these screenings, Julie decided to campaign for better cancer support in the workplace and launched the JG HR Pledge.
By signing the pledge, employers agree to give paid time off for routine breast screening appointments. Any company in the UK can sign up for free and participants receive a certificate to display to their team and clients. Julie also offers a basic business cancer policy, in return for a donation to a cancer charity of their choice.
Julie has worked with many of PRIME Cymru’s clients over the years, volunteering her time to offer business support to aspiring entrepreneurs. Our charity is very grateful for her efforts and we’re sure many more people will benefit from the amazing impact of the JG HR Pledge.
So far 160 businesses have joined the #JGHRPledge. If your business would like to join, please contact julie@jghrsolutions.co.uk.
