Dale and Jim build a quality business

With help and support from PRIME Cymru, Dale and Jim have been able to launch their new business venture in North Wales.

ROMACK Services is a new North Wales business that aims to deliver quality building work, property maintenance and a 24hr Emergency boarding up service to both the public and commercial sectors.  The business was established in December 2012 by two local craftsmen, Dale Roberts and Jim Mackenzie, who between them have over 70 years experience in the building and engineering trades.

Jim says “It has not been easy getting a business going and we know we have a long way to go before we can claim success. But it’s surprising how much easier it has been than I thought it would be. The key was being given sound advice and accessing ongoing support. I guess we have been lucky to have sought help from PRIME Cymru early on in the business’s development and to be matched to a local business mentor. Our mentor, Bridget Glendinning, has been fabulous, lots of help, encouragement and enthusiasm and always there at the end of the phone, email or taking the time to meet up face to face. On occasion she has delivered a good swift kick up the rear metaphorically speaking which has had a positive effect and helped keep us focused.”

As individuals both Jim and Dale bring to the business a wealth of skills, knowledge and experiences that are unique and so vitally important to the business’s future success. They share values and beliefs that will help ensure they provide a service that is reliable and responsive to the needs of their customers and consistently deliver quality workmanship at reasonable cost. They say “We want to offer our customers the complete package from start to finish, we will even vacuum up after ourselves, so our customers don’t have to”

In the first year Romack Services aims to become an established local company within the Wrexham and North Wales area. Their plan is to create and market a unique branding image and seek to develop the business by advertising locally and establishing their website. They anticipate that the business will grow as they become more and more recognised as the tradesmen of choice in the sector. They expect to recruit additional members to the workforce to increase their range of skills and expertise and also hope to take on apprentices and provide them with high quality training and on the job assessments. They want to share their skills with young people and look to pass on their knowledge and expertise along with instilling in them a healthy and honest work culture.
